What's the difference between a network security system and traditional CCTV?
Traditional CCTV is usually a standalone box of analogue cameras wired back to a recorder that sits on its own, separate from everything else. A network security system runs on your existing network. The cameras are PoE-powered, footage is recorded by a UniFi Protect NVR, and you manage and view it all through the same network we already look after. It is sharper, easier to expand, and viewable from anywhere. To be clear, OutTask only installs network-connected systems. We do not fit standalone CCTV, alarm systems, or non-network devices, and this is not physical security consulting.
Do I need to replace my existing network to add cameras?
Usually not. PoE cameras run on the same network as your computers and Wi-Fi, so in most cases we add the cameras to what you already have. We do check that your switches and cabling can handle the extra load first, and if anything needs upgrading we will tell you up front with clear reasoning, since networking is our core business too.
Can I view my cameras remotely?
Yes. With UniFi Protect you can securely view live and recorded footage, plus your access control logs, from your phone, tablet, or laptop wherever you are. It is the same view whether you are on site in Brisbane or away, and access is controlled so only the right people can see it.
